Lead Bid Writer
Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Lead Bid Writer to join our dedicated team. This role offers the opportunity to shape and develop high-quality bid submissions while driving continuous improvement within our dynamic organisation.
About the Role
As a Lead Bid Writer, you will work closely with the bid leadership team to set standards, oversee, and actively contribute to the completion of the quality submission process. You will play a pivotal role from initial storyboarding through to final submission, ensuring best practices in authoring while enhancing efficiencies across the bid process.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a career-enhancing project, contributing to industry-leading bids across infrastructure, although it would be particularly appealing if you have highways maintenance experience. You will be a key part of a collaborative, forward-thinking team delivering pioneering solutions to enhance infrastructure performance across the UK.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the bid writing process, ensuring clarity, compliance, and high-quality responses from PQQ to ITT and beyond.
- Develop, review, and refine written submissions, ensuring they align with client requirements and company standards.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) to extract key information and craft compelling narratives, rather than relying on SMEs to draft content.
- Implement structured bid methodologies such as Shipley, ensuring best practices are maintained.
- Conduct storyboarding, pink & red reviews, and final quality assurance to maximise bid success.
- Drive continuous improvement, identifying areas to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in bid development.
- Engage with internal stakeholders and clients, demonstrating excellent communication skills across all forums, from one-to-one discussions to larger group workshops.
- Champion Sustainability, Safety, Health, and Environment (SSHE) by embedding these values into all aspects of bid writing and project delivery.
- Ensure customer focus by striving for excellence, understanding, and anticipating client needs.
Key Requirements:
- Extensive experience in bid writing, with a track record of successfully delivering high-quality submissions.
- Strong knowledge of structured bid processes, ideally including Shipley methodologies.
- Experience in highways maintenance or infrastructure-related bids is highly desirable.
- Ability to write responses from scratch, ensuring clarity and impact.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and collaborate with diverse teams.
- A proactive approach, with integrity and a commitment to doing the right thing.
