Quality Engineer – EV Charging Systems / QMS
We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented quality engineer with experience in electrical systems, ideally within the electric vehicle charging sector. A key part of this role will be setting up, implementing, and managing a Quality Management System (QMS) to ensure our client’s products meet the highest industry standards while also supporting daily operations, supply chain processes, and broader business objectives. Responsibilities of the Quality Engineer
- Develop, implement, and maintain a robust Quality Management System (QMS), ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Establish and document quality assurance processes specifically for EV charging systems, covering design, production, and supply chain.
- Lead internal and external audits to assess compliance with ISO 9001, IATF 16949, or equivalent quality frameworks.
- Carry out inspections and testing of products, components, and systems to ensure they meet technical specifications.
- Work closely with design and production teams to proactively address potential quality issues at an early stage.
- Define and oversee testing protocols, including functional, performance, and durability tests for electric systems.
- Analyse test data, identify trends and implement corrective actions to resolve quality concerns.
- Monitor and report on key quality metrics, such as defect rates, failure trends, and warranty claims, using data-driven insights to drive continuous improvement.
- Stay informed of evolving industry standards and certifications, ensuring all processes align with best practices.
- Lead root cause analysis and problem-solving initiatives to eliminate recurring defects and inefficiencies.
- Train production and operational teams on quality standards, QMS procedures, and best practices.
Supply Chain & Business Support
- Ensure suppliers adhere to required quality standards by implementing supplier quality management processes.
- Conduct supplier audits and work with vendors to resolve non-conformance issues.
- Assist in evaluating and qualifying new suppliers and materials, ensuring they meet quality and compliance requirements.
- Oversee facility compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
- Support production teams by troubleshooting quality-related issues and ensuring minimal impact on manufacturing schedules.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate quality processes into supply chain and production workflows.
- Participate in customer reviews, regulatory audits, and internal reporting to uphold high organisational standards.
Qualifications
- A degree in electrical engineering, quality management, or a related field.
- At least three years of experience in quality engineering, ideally within electrical systems or EV charging technology.
- Proven experience in setting up, implementing, and managing a Quality Management System (QMS).
- Strong knowledge of ISO 9001, IATF 16949, or similar quality frameworks, with hands-on experience leading audits.
- Expertise in testing methodologies and equipment for electrical components and power systems.
- Proficiency in data analysis and quality improvement tools such as Six Sigma, FMEA, and root cause analysis.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across teams.
